If you are a teacher looking for authentic learning involving art and 3D printing, here is a great example shared by North Adelaide Primary School, one of our Lighthouse Schools.
John Western, a teacher at North Adelaide Primary School, explains his class project:
“My grade 4 class at North Adelaide Primary School visited the Art Gallery of South Australia in first term to view the Biennial Modern Art Exhibition, which is part of the Festival Of Arts.
“One of the exhibitors was Tom Moore, a local glass blower, who displayed many pieces of art around the theme of nature dominating over man made machines.
“Back at school we talked about the features of the art they saw and then they had to design their own piece in 2D on paper around the same theme.
“Students then went about designing their art piece on Makers Empire as a 3D object and worked together to achieve workable models. They were very excited to see their designs printed. They were very engaged in all aspects of the process.
“We shared their designs with the artist who was very appreciative and enjoyed the student’s ideas.”
